"Grand entrance ”
Loved our stay at the Melia Yangon, hotel entry was so grand and beautiful centre piece hanging from the ceiling, staff very professional and polite, our room on the 22d floor was very spacious with beautiful windows and views, bed was massive and very comfortable, breakfast was amazing with so many choices of tasty food. Hotel is across the road from Inya Lake where you can have morning and evening walks, next door to the hotel is the Myanmar Plaza shopping centre, with a food court/restaurants on the top floor. Distance to the city centre depends on the traffic but it's not that far. Would definitely stay at the Melia Yangon again.
"The Best To Date”
I used to stay at Shule Shangri-La which was previously known as Traders Hotel. However the traffic there can be notorious so unless I'm visiting places around that region I try to avoid. It has it's charm though. I was recommended to stay at Melia Yangon last year and so far I've never looked elsewhere. The staff there are really helpful and friendly. The room and area are very clean and wifi strength is good. I even managed to have a WhatsApp call with my boss. He thought that I was already back home in Singapore. Yeah.. it's that good. So far no power outages - for those who have been to Myanmar knows that's a "norm". The unfortunate thing is that I haven't got much time to fully utilized the facilities except for the cafe at the lobby. Prices are stand hotel price. The only issue I have with this location is that there is no street food around the hotel unlike in Shule Shangri-La. But there's Myanmar Plaza just next door and the walkway to and from the hotel is covered. Myanmar Plaza houses many choices of food and shopping. The likes of KFC, Gloria Jean Coffee, Aston's, Black Canyon, The Manhattan Fish Market, Ya Kun, K-Bibimbap, Sorabol and also a Singapore Restaurant. Besides restaurants there's also a food court of sort. Stashed away in a corner is a local food court serving noodles and other local food. The price is good but the aircon is not that great. City Mart has a supermarket there so you can buy groceries drinking water etc. Sports stores includes Nike, Adidas, and Sketchers. Other stores I saw was Crocs, Ooredo, Bodyshop etc.
"Excellent Hotel in Good Location with well-trained staff”
I stayed at Melia for a week in early Dec 2019. It is at very good location at it is linked to Myanmar Plaza and beautiful Inya Lake at the front. Lobby is spacious and beautifully decorated. Gym and Swimming Pool are well equipped, clean and well maintained. The room I stayed is spacious. Staff are polite and always offer to help us if needed. Win Tun and Alex from Pool and Gym are very friendly and helpful. We will not hesitate to stay there one more time and to recommend others. Stay at Melia will never disappoint you!
